MEOW MEOW
Meow’s unique brand of kamikaze cabaret kitsch and performance art exotica has hypnotised audiences worldwide and taken her from New York to Shanghai, Berlin to London to Vegas.
There’s not a city in the world that’s not head over heels in love with this fabulous feline. Meow’s collaborators and curators include a who’s who of music, cabaret, performance art and theatre; from NY’s Justin Bond, Taylor Mac and Penny Arcade to Iain Grandage, Lance Horne, The Dresden Dolls, Thomas Lauderdale (Pink Martini), Pina Bausch and now the legendary Mikhail Baryshnikov. Beyond Glamour, Meow’s solo show, sold out fast last time she visited Melbourne Festival in 2006 and 2007 and was also chosen by David Bowie for his High Line Festival in New York, “incited” by director John Cameron Mitchell (creator of Shortbus and Hedwig and the Angry Inch).
Then in 2008, Meow returned to blow Melbourne’s mind as the eternal femme fatale in VAMP. Feline Intimate is Meow Meow in the raw (figuratively speaking of course, although you never know your luck) and close enough that you can touch her (literally, we’re sure she’ll love it). Maestro John Thorn will accompany Meow on piano for this spontaneous and enigmatic joyride channelling Brecht, Brel, Bowie, Eisler, Gainsbourg, Fellini, Tarantino and more.
